Pete Goffe-Wood, professional chef, restauranteur, cookbook author & TV chef is a judge on Ultimate Braai Master – and he’s heading to Berks
It’s going to be a day to remember with just 80 tickets on sale plus 20 special VIP tickets for a Braai Masterclass with Pete.
It’s the only venue Pete is cooking at in the UK on this trip – having been booked for the event by an old friend from SA as a bit of a special favour.
We asked Pete a couple of questions about a braai and what makes South Africans such experts at cooking over fire – and why Wickham?
Pete said: “Communing to eat around an open fire across cultural and economic borders is very important to all of us in South Africa. The conviviality around the braai is something we can all relate to.
“And because it’s almost always sunny and we can cook outside we think have pretty much perfected this as an art form. We braai all the time. We have braai competitions on TV and I’m lucky enough to be a judge on the top show of its kind on TV – so I get to see the best in the business all the time.
“People might think it’s easy – and in the UK it’s often sausages and burgers – but we have a massive range of things we can do over the fire and I can’t wait to help open Duncan’s new outdoor dining experience – especially as I’ll be one of the first people to cook on his specially commissioned braai machine. It looks stunning and shows a real commitment to making outdoor dining a real experience – which is exactly what it is.”
