Worthy wins for the team behind the South African documentary, My Octopus Teacher. Featuring diver Craig Foster in the kelp forests of False Bay and directed by Pippa Ehrlick and James Reed, The Octopus Teacher recently won the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) for the Best Documentary. It has also recently won an Academy Award, the first nature documentary to win an Academy Award since The Cove in 2010.
The team was absolutely elated with joy at their BAFTA win, with Pippa Ehrlick showing gratitude to everyone including the star of the show, the Octopus.

At the Oscars, co-directors Pippa Ehrlich and James Reed accepted the iconic gold statuette at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles stating “an honour we never dreamed possible”.
Craig Foster responed to the Oscar saying “this award and this exposure will go a long way to changing the change of heart and warming the human heart to the incredible wonders of our natural system and how critical they are for our human survival”.
