Sanctuary Mandela officially opened in September 2021. This was Mandela’s former home that has now been transformed and refurbished into a boutique hotel.
The hotel in Houghton Estate, Johannesburg boasts 9 bedrooms, 2 meeting rooms, a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, lush gardens, exhibits and retreat spaces that take you on a journey into the life and style of Madiba.
Dine on Mandela’s favourite foods such as an Oxtail pasta, created by Mandela’s former personal chef of 18 years, Xolisa Ndoyiya.
Mandela’s bedroom, the Presidential Suite will cost around £750 (R15 000) per night.
