Did somebody say Vetkoek?

Vetkoek is an Afrikaans word that translates into English as “Fat Cake”. It originated from the Dutch settlers who trekked across South Africa in the 17th Century.

As they had no fresh bread or ovens it was easier to fry dough balls and fill them with meat, providing a simple yet satisfying dish.

It is somewhat of a tradition in South Africa.
